It has been reported that over 2,900 people filled the stadium for Luca Toni's return. You know he has been off for I think around 3 months with his tendon problem. The media is saying that most of the people there went only because of Luca! There were over 30 reporters there to get coverage. That is crazy! He is much more popular than I had imagined lol!

I would not be too shocked at all, sometimes fans really do miss their players and when it can hold down a team, you know people will be supportive of a return like that. And I think that is a little more than a crowd, closer to part of a town hall meeting or something.

I am not surprised at all either with him drawing a crowd like this, especially in the soccer world; fans are very loyal. I am sure that made him feel very good about himself and made his team feel good as well.

I missed this game. Do you know if he performed well? I would hope so with that many fans coming out to see him. That's a lot of pressure on one player! =)

I didn't see the coverage, but I agree that people will come out to support the players that they love. Especially with football! We are intense fans. When I lived in England and worked at a pub, we used to get all sorts of fans during games. It was great.
