Wayne Rooney it seems might be out with a knee ligament injury. The results of scans were still waited for this afternoon, and till they are returned the fears remain that he will be out for a while. Man Utd need all the help they can get right now-so this is bad news.

Only bad news? This is TERRIBLE news for United, as Wayne Rooney is such a key player for them. As much as I may dislike Wayne Rooney for his off field behavior and antics, his team truly and seriously does need him...a lot.

Oh yes I agree! But what about the other big hitters in the team, why suddenly are they incapable of playing the game? This sort of thing drives me a little potty!

Yes Joe, one can only hope that the rest of the team will rise to the occasion and fill the gap if Rooney is sidelined. I am hoping that Rooney will be OK, but whatever happens, that Man U will sit at the top of the heap.

I think I would be worried if I were them as well. Really now he went out with something so small it seems to many but could you imagine playing the way the man does, its a wonder more things are not messed up.

I never said the other players were incapable of playing a good game, just that Wayne Rooney's absence will definitely hurt them. That doesn't mean they won't win, they will just have to step it up to make up for Rooney.

I think anyone that does not miss him being out is an idiot, seriously do we now live in the world were key players are not going to downfall parts of their team when they are injured? He might not be my favourite but he is not the worse either.

I agree - he's a big loss to the team.

I don't think that they will rise to the occasion. They seem to be off form this season so far, for reasons unknown. Without Rooney, well it horribly compounds the problem.

They need Wayne Rooney, but they also need every other player they have as well. Manchester has been having a bit of an off year, but that doesn't mean they aren't still formidable. Even at their worst, they are still able to win some games.

While I do believe a team is not just one player I also think they have been a tad off lately. I know some teams out there have some losses for injuries becoming insanely high but this team I would have expected more.

My biggest question has been why they are struggling. Do you think there may be some problems between players or management problems? Whatever the case, I hope they can get their acts back together and fast.

Well we all know it is going to be something with him missing and I really have no idea how the team will manage but lets hope they realize that there is a full team, even with being a player short.

The question is, how many games can they win without him? I get that he is a key player and all but you are right as I read this, there is no one man (or women depending the game) that makes a team, everyone does.

Well things are looking up for them now. I still am not convinced that they stand a sideways chance at taking the league this year, but they won't disgrace themselves either.

If they ride it out even or close to it I think many will be content with that. It seems this year more than others all injuries and suspensions have really stood out.
