A fullback in a football game is a position located in the offensive backfield areas. This position is one of the two running back positions during a football match and works along with the halfback. Fullbacks play as running backs. However, running backs nowadays are usually referred to as the halfbacks or the tailbacks. In modern football games, fullbacks are rarely seen carrying the ball during gameplay. In the past, for offensive tactics during a match, fullbacks are the ones who are designated to carry the ball.

Jorvorskie Lane is one of the biggest names in the NFL when it comes to fullback. He is also considered to be one of the heaviest NFL fullbacks at 277 pounds. He played fullback when he was still in Miami and Tampa Bay. One of his most memorable plays was when he hit one big run for 54 yards. He is popularly known as J-Train Lane. He did not make it that big in the NFL but has a total of 2,193 career rushing yards and a total of 49 touchdowns during his whole career. He was at Texas A&M when he managed to reach these statistics. Some see the fullback as a dying position. Fullbacks use their heads, while most of the players use their hands. Most fullbacks are expected to do head-knocking during gameplay. Currently, there are about 14 fullbacks playing in the 32 teams of NFL. On average, a fullback player is signed for a multi-year deal and receives an average salary of $1.6 million.
