Jake Bailey is an active professional American football player who plays as a punter in the National Football League (NFL). Best known for his tenure with the New England Patriots, where he earned First-team All-Pro honors, he recently signed to play for the Atlanta Falcons after a multi-year stint with the Miami Dolphins.
Player Profile, High School, and College Career
Jacob Richard Bailey was born on June 18, 1997, in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The Punter stands 188 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 96 kg.He attended Santa Fe Christian Schools in Solana Beach, California. During his high school career, he was a standout multi-sport athlete, lettering in football, track and field, and soccer. He developed into one of the top high school kicking and punting prospects in the nation.
Following graduation, he played college football for Stanford University from 2015 to 2018. During his time with the Cardinal, he became the all-time team leader in career punt average (43.8 yards per kick) and boomed an 84-yard punt, the longest in school history. He was named to the Second-team All-Pac-12 in both 2017 and 2018.
Professional Career
He was drafted by the New England Patriots during the 2019 NFL Draft. They selected him in the fifth round, making him the 163rd overall pick.During his professional career, Bailey quickly established himself as a premier weapon on special teams. He won the starting job in his 2019 rookie training camp, replacing incumbent Super Bowl-winning punter Ryan Allen.
In his sophomore campaign in 2020, Bailey put together a phenomenal season, averaging 48.7 gross yards per punt and landing 31 punts inside the 20-yard line. This incredible performance earned him his first Pro Bowl selection and First-team All-Pro honors, making him the first Patriots punter to receive that distinction.
After dealing with injuries and a contract dispute during the 2022 season, he was released by the Patriots in March 2023. He signed with the Miami Dolphins a few days later, where he spent three productive seasons serving as the team's primary punter.
Following his tenure in Miami, he entered free agency and signed a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons in March 2026.
