Cody Davis is a former American professional football player who played as a safety and special teams standout in the National Football League (NFL). Throughout his 11-season career, he was widely regarded as a cornerstone on special teams, playing for the Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New England Patriots before officially retiring in early 2024.

Cody Davis was born on June 6, 1989, in Stephenville, Texas, USA. The Safety stands 188 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 92 kg.He attended Stephenville High School in his hometown, where he helped lead the football team to an impressive 33–5 record over his three years as a starter in the defensive backfield. Following high school, he played college football for Texas Tech University from 2008 to 2012. He was highly productive for the Red Raiders both on the field and in the classroom.
In 2009, he was named a First-team Phil Steele Freshman All-American. He went on to be named Second-team All-Big 12 in both his junior and senior years and finished his collegiate career with 49 total starts.
Personal Life
Off the field, Davis has been heavily involved in charitable work. During his time with the Patriots, he created a program called "Cody's Gamers," where he regularly played video games online with patients at Boston Children's Hospital to lift their spirits. In college, he was recognized for his academic excellence by being named a First-team Academic All-American during his senior year in 2012.Professional Career
Davis went undrafted during the 2013 NFL Draft. He was subsequently signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams in April 2013.During his professional career, he established his niche as an incredibly reliable special teams asset. He spent five seasons with the Rams franchise (transitioning with them to Los Angeles) before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March 2018. After two seasons in Jacksonville, he signed with the New England Patriots in March 2020.
In New England, Davis became a highly respected locker room veteran and a core special teamer. Despite suffering a season-ending knee injury in 2022, the Patriots re-signed him for the 2023 season. In Week 16 of the 2023 season, he notably scored his first career touchdown by recovering a fumble in a victory over the Denver Broncos. On March 28, 2024, Davis officially announced his retirement from professional football.
