Ashtyn Davis is an active American professional football safety in the National Football League (NFL). A former walk-on who became a star at the University of California, he spent five seasons as a versatile defender for the New York Jets before joining the Miami Dolphins in 2025.

Known for his elite speed and track background, he has established himself as a reliable secondary presence and a key contributor on special teams.

Player Profile, High School, and College Career

Ashtyn Davis was born on October 10, 1996, in Santa Cruz, California, USA. The Safety stands 185 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 93 kg.

He attended Santa Cruz High School, where he originally played wide receiver. On the advice of his quarterback, he joined the school’s track team specifically to improve his speed for football—a move that fundamentally changed his athletic trajectory. He went on to become a standout hurdler, later competing in track at the University of California, Berkeley.

Davis’s football journey at Cal is a story of extreme perseverance; he joined the team as a walk-on in 2015 without a scholarship. He eventually earned a full scholarship and became a defensive cornerstone. During his collegiate career (2015–2019), he earned First-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2018 and Second-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2019. He was also a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the nation's most outstanding player who began their career as a walk-on.

Professional Career

Davis turned pro in 2020 and was selected by the New York Jets in the third round (68th overall) of the NFL Draft.

During his tenure with the Jets (2020–2024), Davis served in various roles ranging from a primary backup to a starting safety. Despite several stints on injured reserve early in his career—including a foot injury in late 2020 and a knee issue in 2021—he proved to be a productive ball-hawk when healthy.

In March 2025, Davis signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins. During the 2025 season, he took on a starting role in the Dolphins' secondary, recording a career-high 65 combined tackles, four pass deflections, and an interception in 15 regular-season games.

Following the conclusion of his contract with Miami, he entered the 2026 offseason as a veteran free agent.
