Mekhi Becton is an American professional football guard and tackle who enters the 2026 offseason as a veteran free agent. He was nicknamed "Big Ticket" due to his massive physical frame and high-impact blocking potential.
He was selected in the first round of the 2020 draft of the National Football League (NFL), and successfully revitalized his career by shifting from offensive tackle to guard. He won a Super Bowl title with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mekhi Becton Sr. was born on April 18, 1999, in Highland Springs, Virginia, USA. The Guard/Offensive Tackle stands 201 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 165 kg.He attended Highland Springs High School in Virginia, where he anchored the offensive line and led his football team to consecutive state championships while drawing national recognition as a dominant three-star prospect.
Playing for the Louisville Cardinals from 2017 to 2019, he blossomed into one of the most physically imposing blockers in college football. Starting 33 games across both left and right tackle positions, Becton claimed the prestigious Jacobs Blocking Award and earned First-team All-ACC honors in 2019 before choosing to forgo his final season of collegiate eligibility to enter the NFL Draft.
Professional Career
Becton was selected by the New York Jets in the first round (11th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.Severe knee injuries derailed his subsequent campaigns, as cartilage damage in 2021 and an avulsion fracture of his right kneecap in 2022 sidelined him for almost two full years. Becton returned fully healthy in 2023 to start 16 games for New York before hitting the open market.
In April 2024, Becton signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Becton put together an outstanding campaign, starting 15 games and helping push the Eagles to a championship victory in Super Bowl LIX. Parlaying that success into a major payday, he signed a two-year, $20 million free-agent contract with the Los Angeles Chargers in March 2025, where he wore jersey number 73 and started 14 games during the 2025 season.
He was released by the Chargers in March 2026 for salary cap savings, rendering him a highly intriguing interior lineman option in free agency.
