Braxton Berrios is an American professional football wide receiver and return specialist who enters the 2026 offseason as an unrestricted veteran free agent. He played in the National Football League for the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and Houston Texans.

Braxton Berrios was born on October 6, 1995, in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. The wide receiver and return specialist stands 175 cm tall, and his playing weight was last listed at 84 kg.He attended Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, where he was a dynamic, dominant dual-threat star, playing both quarterback and wide receiver to accumulate elite under-classman accolades and draw national recruiting attention. Committing to the University of Miami, Berrios suited up for the Hurricanes from 2014 to 2017.
He developed into a vital security blanket for the offense and a dangerous perimeter weapon, capping off his collegiate tenure with a Third-team All-ACC selection in 2017 after leading the Hurricanes in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
Professional Career
Berrios was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (210th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.Though a severe injury forced him onto injured reserve for the entirety of his rookie campaign, his presence on the roster earned him a Super Bowl ring following the Patriots' victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
He was waived prior to the 2019 regular season and immediately claimed by the New York Jets, where his professional career truly exploded. Berrios blossomed into an elite special team’s ace in New York.
His definitive breakout arrived in 2021, when he led the NFL in kickoff return average and earned a First-team All-Pro selection, highlighted by a spectacular 102-yard kickoff return touchdown against Jacksonville.
In March 2023, Berrios signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, returning to his collegiate stomping grounds to provide reliable slot depth and return utility. He re-signed with the Dolphins for the 2024 campaign, but his season was cut short in October when he suffered a tragic torn ACL against the Indianapolis Colts.
Berrios bounced back fully to sign a one-year contract with the Houston Texans in March 2025. He served as an essential veteran depth option across four games in Houston, stepping into the rotation to provide sure hands on offense and special teams when injuries struck the perimeter.
