Lavonte David is an American football player in the National Football League. Since he was drafted in 2012, he has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a linebacker. In 2020, he helped the team win Super Bowl LV. In his rookie year, he was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Lavonte Lamar David was born on January 23, 1990, in Miami, Florida. He is a linebacker and he stands 185 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 106 kg. He attended the Miami Northwestern High School. Some of his teammates included Jacory Harris, Sean Spence, Marcus Forston, and more. In 2006 and 2007, the high school team won back-to-back state titles.Rivals.com considered him a two-star recruit. He initially attended the Fort Scott Community College before he transferred to play for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He decided to forgo the rest of his college eligibility in 2012 to join the NFL Draft. In 2021, he went back to the university to finish his degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Professional Career
David was drafted into the NFL in 2012 and he was picked in the 2nd round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As the 58th overall pick, he became the highest-drafted linebacker from Nebraska since 2005. The Buccaneers later signed him to a four-year contract.In his rookie year, he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. The following year, he was named to the First-team All-Pro. A few years later, in 2015, he was selected to play in the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. In 2016, he was named to the Second-team All-Pro. He would be named to this team again in 2020 after the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl LV Championship in the year 2020.
