Bryce Callahan is an American former professional football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons, for the Chicago Bears, the Denver Broncos, and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Player Profile, High School, and College Career
Bryce Jordan Callahan was born on October 23, 1991, in Moscow, Idaho, United States of America. The cornerback stands 175 cm tall, and played at a listed weight of 83 kg.He attended Cypress Woods High School in Cypress, Texas, where he showcased his coverage skills on the gridiron. Committing to Rice University, Callahan played college football for the Owls from 2010 to 2014. During his collegiate career, he developed into a reliable defensive back, earning Second-team All-C-USA honors in 2013 and setting the stage for his entry into the professional ranks.
Professional Career
Callahan went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft but was quickly signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chicago Bears.He fought his way onto the Bears' active roster during his rookie season and eventually carved out a starting role as the team's primary slot cornerback. Under the defensive schemes of coordinator Vic Fangio, Callahan thrived in Chicago, providing sticky coverage and recording 11 starts over his four years with the franchise.
In March 2019, Callahan followed Fangio to the Denver Broncos, signing a lucrative free-agent contract. Although a foot injury forced him to miss the entirety of the 2019 campaign, he bounced back strong in 2020 and 2021, anchoring the nickel cornerback position and adding crucial depth to the Broncos' secondary.
Callahan signed with the Los Angeles Chargers for the 2022 season, where he enjoyed one of the most productive years of his career. Starting 11 of the 15 games he played, he recorded a career-high 47 tackles and three interceptions.
He concluded his NFL playing journey with 241 total tackles, five sacks, nine interceptions, and 35 pass deflections.
