Chris Jones is an American football player with a defensive tackle position. He plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL.

He also played football during his college years at the Mississippi State University. The Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Career

The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Jones as the 37th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. On May 8, 2016, Jones was signed by the Chiefs to a 4- year $6.23 worth contract.

He made his regular-season professional debut in the season-opening 33 to 27 win in favor of the Kansas City Chiefs over the San Diego Chargers.

In 2017, he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week due to his win against Philadelphia Eagles. He finished the season with 32 tackles, one interception, 6.5 sacks, and 7 passes, including 4 forced fumbles with 5 starts and 16 appearances.

In 2018, Chris Jones was named as second-team All-Pro for his excellent performance for the season. In 2019, versus Tennessee Titans, he successfully recorded 2 sacks on Ryan Tannehill. He finished the season with 36 tackles, 9 sacks, one forced fumble, a recovery, and 4 passes defended.

On March 16, 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs placed Jones’ franchise tag, and on July 15, he signed an $80 million worth of 4-year contract. In Week 14 versus Miami Dolphins, Jones recorded his very first career safety.

He completed the season with 36 tackles, 4 passes defended, 7.5 sacks, and 2 forced stumbles. In 2021, Week 11, he had 5 tackles, a pass deflection, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and recovery in the 19 to 9 win against the Cowboys, making him the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
