Player Profile and Personal Life
Corey Davis is an American footballer, a wide receiver for the NFL team New York Jets. He went to Wheaton Warrenville South High School alongside his older brother, Titus Davis.Corey Damon Davis committed to Western Michigan in college, recording 67 receptions for 941 yards in his freshman year. With this, he was named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year.
In college, he also became the all-time FBS leader in receiving yards. He broke this record, formerly held by Trevor Insley of Nevada. Davis also earned conference Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-MAC.
He was no. 91 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2021.
Career
Tennessee Titans picked Davis fifth overall in the 1st round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed with the team on July 29, 2017, and made his debut in the season-opening versus the Oakland Riders.While the Titans lost, he caught 6 receptions for 69 yards. He could not play as much during the season due to a hamstring injury. He finished his first season with 34 receptions for 375 yards.
Davis played in the 2017 AFC Divisional Round, where he caught his first 2 NFL touchdowns, although his team lost against the New England Patriots. He completed the game with 5 receptions for 63 yards, along with the touchdowns.
In the 2018 season, he made a career game with 9 receptions for 161 yards versus the Philadelphia Eagles. He also made a game-winning touchdown during overtime.
Davis finished this season with 891 receiving yards, 4 receiving touchdowns, and 55 rushing yards. He recorded all these in 16 starts and games.
During Week 4 in the 2019 season, Davis caught 5 passes for 91 yards in the game with Atlanta Falcons. He also made his first receiving touchdown in this game. Davis made his second touchdown later in the game versus the Los Angeles Chargers.
He missed the game versus Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10 because of a hip injury. Davis finished this season with 43 receptions for 601 yards and 2 touchdowns. He recorded this amid 15 games, 11 of which he was a starting.
The Titans did not use Davis’ fifth-year option on May 1, 2020. By 2021, he was a free agent. He was put on the physically unable to perform/active list from July 28 until August 17, 2020, when they activated him.
He was an opener for the 2020 regular season and made 7 receptions for 101 receiving yards in the game against the Denver Broncos. In Week 15 of the season, he recorded 4 catches for 110 yards, along with a 75-yard touchdown reception.
After his contract with the Titans ended, he entered a new one with the New York Jets on March 18, 2021. Later in the season, he was put on the injured reserve due to core muscle surgery. He completed his first Jets season with 34 catches for 492 yards and 4 touchdowns through 9 games.
