Damien Harris is an American football player with a running back position. He plays for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Harris also played football in college at Alabama and was chosen by the Patriots in the third round of the NFL Draft in 2019.Career
The New England Patriots chose Harris in the third round 2019 NFL Draft, 87th overall. He had his professional debut in Week 7 33-0 victory over the New York Jets, rushing for 12 yards on four carries.On September 7, 2020, Harris was put on injured reserve due to his broken finger but was activated on October 5, 2020. In Week 4 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, Harris recorded 17 convey for 100 rushing yards in the 26 to 10 loss. In a game versus Buffalo Bills in Week 8, Harris had 16 carries for 102 surging yards, and he also had his first career rushing touchdown in the 24 to 21 loss.
In Week 10, Damien Harris hurried the ball multiple times for 121 yards, which helped lead the Patriots to a 23 to 17 upset victory against Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. On January 2, 2021, Damien Harris was again placed on the injured reserve. He completed the season as the leading rusher of the Patriots with 691 yards and 2 touchdowns through a total of 10 games.
In the 2021 season, Damien Harris was the team’s primary starter. He began the season’s initial nine games through a sustained concussion in Week 9. It kept him out of the game for the Week 10 versus Cleveland Browns. Harris returned as starter for Week 10 and recorded 100+ yard exhibitions in Week 1 versus Miami Dolphins, Week 6 versus Dallas Cowboys, and the week that follows against the New York Jets.
However, he was generally ineffective during the Week 3 and 4 misfortunes versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints, being held to just 2 total yards rushing joined between the two games. Beginning in Week 8, he started to divide carries with backup Rhamondre Stevenson.
