Amari Cooper is an American former professional football wide receiver who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Known for his pristine route-running and elite footwork, he was a consistently productive primary receiving target for several franchises, like the Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Brown, earning five Pro Bowl selections.

Amari Cooper was born on June 17, 1994, in Miami, Florida, USA. The wide receiver stands 185 cm tall, and played at a listed weight of 95 kg.

He attended Miami Northwestern Senior High School, developing into a premier national prospect. Committing to the University of Alabama, Cooper starred for the Crimson Tide from 2012 to 2014.

He had an immediate impact, helping the team win the 2012 BCS National Championship as a true freshman. His collegiate career culminated in a historic 2014 junior campaign where he led the NCAA in receptions, earned Unanimous All-American honors, and won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's most outstanding receiver.

Professional Career

Cooper was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

He found immediate success in the NFL, recording over 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie and sophomore seasons while earning back-to-back Pro Bowl nods. After struggling in his third year and early into his fourth, he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys midway through the 2018 season. The change of scenery revitalized his career. He quickly became the focal point of the Cowboys' passing attack, posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2019 and 2020.

In 2022, Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. He continued his remarkable consistency, posting 1,000-yard receiving campaigns in 2022 and 2023, making him the first wide receiver in Browns franchise history to record multiple 1,000-yard seasons.

After being traded to the Buffalo Bills midway through the 2024 season, he spent a brief offseason stint with the Las Vegas Raiders before announcing his retirement in 2025.

He officially finished his 10-year NFL career with 711 receptions, 10,033 receiving yards, and 64 receiving touchdowns.
