David Bakhtiari is an American former professional football offensive tackle who played 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Best known for his technically flawless pass protection as Aaron Rodgers' blindside protector. He earned five consecutive All-Pro selections while playing for the Green Bay Packers.

David Afrasiab Assad Bakhtiari was born on September 30, 1991, in San Mateo, California, USA. The Offensive Tackle stands 193 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 143 kg.

He attended Junípero Serra High School in San Mateo, California. Playing for the Colorado Buffaloes from 2009 to 2012, he developed into a stalwart presence on their offensive line, starting 31 games and earning Second-team All-Pac-12 honors in consecutive seasons before choosing to forgo his senior year to declare for the NFL Draft.

Professional Career

Bakhtiari was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round (109th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Thrust into the starting lineup as a rookie following a training camp injury to Bryan Bulaga, Bakhtiari became the first rookie in franchise history to start every game at left tackle since the league implemented the 16-game schedule.

He became the anchor of Green Bay's offensive front, dominating pass rushers and eventually signing a massive extension that briefly made him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history. From 2016 to 2020, he was the only tackle in the NFL to earn First- or Second-team All-Pro honors in five consecutive seasons.

His career took an unfortunate turn on December 31, 2020, when he suffered a severe, complex knee injury in practice that required multiple surgeries.

Despite fighting through an arduous rehabilitation process to make brief, inspiring returns to the gridiron, lingering knee complications limited him to just 13 total games over his final three years in Green Bay.

He played his final game for the franchise in the 2023 season opener before being placed on injured reserve, and he was officially released by the Packers in March 2024.
