Jimmy Garoppolo
Jimmy Garoppolo is a professional American football player in the National Football League (NFL). He currently holds the quarterback position for the San Francisco 49ers. Garoppolo is a two-time Super Bowl champion, a 2013 Walter Payton Awardee, and the 2013 OVC Offensive Player of the Year.
Born on November 2, 1991 in Illinois, he plated as a linebacker and quarterback for the Rolling Meadows High School. He then went on to play college football for Eastern Illinois University where he was a multi-awarded player. He declared for the 2014 NFL Draft and was selected by the New England Patriots.
During his rookie season, he recorded a touchdown with a 101.2 passer rating, 10 rushing attempts for 9 yards, and completed 19 of 27 passes for 182 yards. He had a 39.6 passer rating and played in five games in relief roles in 2015. He became the starting quarterback for the 2016 season when Tom Brady was suspended but was forced to sit out a couple of games due to a shoulder injury.
Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on October 31, 2017. In 2018, he was ranked 90th on the Top 100 Players in the NFL. His 2018 season ended prematurely due to a torn ACL. His current player statistics are 65.4 completion percentage, 2,968 passing yards, 97.3 passer rating, and 17-8 touchdowns-interceptions.
