Richard Sherman
Richard Sherman is a professional American football player in the National Football League (NFL). He currently holds the cornerback position for the San Francisco 49ers. Sherman is a Super Bowl Champion and a four-time Pro Bowler.
Born on March 30, 1988 in California, Sherman played track and football while attending Dominguez High School. He went on to attend Stanford University where he played from 2006 until 2010. He declared for the 2011 NFL Draft and was selected in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks.
During his rookie year, he led all the rookies with 17 pass deflections, 4 interceptions and had an overall grade of 85.2 from Pro Football Focus. He recorded season-high combined tackles and pass deflections during the 2012 season. By the next season, he was a starting cornerback with an overall grade of 87.8 from Pro Football Focus.
He had his first Super Bowl in February 2014 and was also awarded the NFC Defensive Player of the Year Award as well as the PFWA Good Guy Award. In the next season, he was retained as the number 1 starting cornerback of the Seahawks. Sherman had an overall grade of 84.6 from Pro Football Focus in 2016 and was rated 21st in the NFL Top 100 Players.
Pro Football Focus ranked him 33rd among all qualifying cornerbacks in 2017 with an overall grade of 82.7. In the following year, he was ranked 64th in the Top 100 Players of 2018 even though he played only a total of nine games. His current player statistics are 404 tackles, 103 passes defended, 32 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 2 defensive touchdowns.
