Rob Gronkowski is a professional American football player in the National Football League (NFL). He currently holds the tight end position for the New England Patriots. Gronkowski is a three-time Super Bowl Champion, an NFL Comeback Player of the Year, and a receiving touchdowns leader.

Born on May 14, 1989 in Amherst, Gronkowski first played hockey and basketball before finally playing football for the Williamsville North High School. He moved to Woodland Hills High School during his senior years and was heavily recruited. Gronkowski chose the University of Arizona and won several awards for his exceptional performances.

He was selected by the New England Patriots in the 2010 NFL Draft. During his rookie year, he was nominated thrice for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week. He scored his first touchdown in 2011 and was able to play in Super Bowl XLVI but his performance was hampered by an injured ankle.

In 2012, he became the third tight end to record at least 10 touchdown receptions in three seasons. His next season was hampered by multiple injuries on the arm and the knee as well as an infection. Gronkowski was named as the Comeback Player of the Year in 2014 and was voted to the All-Pro Team and Pro Bowl.

He was voted as the 9th best player in the Top 100 Players of 2016. While he played in his second Super Bowl Championship, his 2016 was marred with injuries. In 2017, he was cleared for Super Bowl LII and was ranked 15th in the league by his peers.

In Super Bowl LIII, Gronkowski set records for catches and yards for tight ends. He also announced his retirement from the NFL on March 24, 2019. Gronkowski’s player statistics are 521 receptions, 7,861 receiving yards, and 79 receiving touchdowns.
