Player Profile, High School, and College Career

Todd Matthew Bouman was born on August 1, 1972, in Ruthton, Minnesota, USA. The quarterback stands 188 cm tall, and his playing weight was listed at 107 kg.

He attended Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School in Tyler, Minnesota, where he was an elite multi-sport letterman, excelling at a high level in football, basketball, and track and field. Committing to St. Cloud State University, Bouman played quarterback for the Huskies from 1992 to 1996.

Professional Career

Bouman went undrafted in the 1997 NFL Draft but signed as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings.

He spent his initial professional seasons developing on deep depth charts behind established veteran starters, earning an international developmental assignment in 1999 to start under center for the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe. Bouman’s definitive regular-season breakthrough arrived during the 2001 campaign with the Vikings. He stepped into lineup for an injured Daunte Culpepper. He captured NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns in a spectacular blowout victory over the Tennessee Titans.

In 2003, Bouman signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints, serving as a vital veteran backup behind Aaron Brooks for three seasons.

From 2006 onward, Bouman established himself as one of the ultimate "plug-and-play" emergency signal-callers in the league. He filled critical depth and practice roster slots for the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and St. Louis Rams, routinely signing mid-week contracts to stabilize quarterback rooms dealing with sudden injuries.

In the autumn of 2008, the Baltimore Ravens signed Bouman to a mid-season deal to serve as the top backup to then-rookie starter Joe Flacco, filling a crucial void when starter Kyle Boller went down with a shoulder injury.

He completed his extensive professional career by returning to the Jaguars from 2009 to 2010, providing vital film-room insights and emergency safety net depth before concluding his 13-year NFL career with 1,905 passing yards and 13 touchdowns across 42 active appearances.

Off the Field

He is the father of player Aidan Bouman, who emerged as a highly sought-after high school passing prospect and went on to star under center as a starting quarterback for the University of South Dakota Coyotes.
