Alex Brink is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Following a record-setting collegiate career at Washington State, he spent time with the Houston Texans before transitioning to the CFL.
Player Profile, High School, and College Career
Alex Brink was born on June 2, 1985, in Eugene, Oregon, USA. The quarterback stands 188 cm tall, and played at a listed weight of 94 kg.He attended Sheldon High School in Eugene, where he was an exceptional multi-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. During his senior football season, he led his team to a state championship while passing for nearly 4,000 yards, earning Oregon Player of the Year honors. He also pitched a perfect game for the baseball team.
Committing to Washington State University, Brink played college football for the Cougars from 2004 to 2007. He developed into one of the most prolific passers in the program's history. He earned two Second-team All-Pac-10 selections (2006, 2007) and finished his collegiate career holding the school's career records for passing yards, touchdowns, completions, and total offense.
He famously remains the only Washington State quarterback to defeat their rival, the University of Washington, three times.
Professional Career
Brink was selected by the Houston Texans in the seventh round (223rd overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.He spent his first two professional seasons on the fringes of the Texans' roster, fluctuating between the practice squad and being waived during final cuts. In 2010, seeking more playing time, he transitioned to the Canadian Football League (CFL) and signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Brink spent three seasons in Winnipeg, making seven starts and stepping in as the primary quarterback during the 2012 season following an injury to the starter. After being released by the Blue Bombers in early 2013, he briefly signed with the Toronto Argonauts before concluding his professional career with a two-year stint playing for the Montreal Alouettes.
Post-Playing Career
Following the end of his professional playing days in 2014, Brink successfully transitioned into sports media and athletic development. He currently serves as the radio color analyst for Washington State football broadcasts and co-hosts the Talkin' Cougars television show.Additionally, he co-founded EForce Sports, a youth athletic development company based in Oregon.
