It was reported the other day on Sports Pundit that New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is attending the Giants minicamp but sitting out workouts. Burress is discontent with his contract.
Yet another member of the Giants’ offense is unhappy. It’s been reported by various news outlets that tight end Jeremy Shockey and general manager Jerry Reese engaged in a shouting match. The incident occurred at the team’s minicamp according to various media sources.
Shockey is reportedly unhappy with the manner in which he was treated during the Super Bowl when the injured player was not allowed on the sidelines. Rather, he had to sit in the co-owner’s luxury box away from the team. Additionally, the tight end contends that the organization fabricated rumors that he wanted to be traded.
Shockey, who did attend the minicamp and is still injured, refused to join other injured players on the practice field when ordered to do so by head coach Tom Coughlin. Although the player is not 100-percent, Coughlin indicated that Shockey was healthy enough to work. The coach said that during the three-day minicamp Shockey’s mental attitude had not improved much.
Shockey’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said that his client did not want to have a public discussion of his situation regarding a possible trade and that Shockey hoped that the issues he had with the New York Giants could be resolved.
The minicamp, which was held at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, ended on Friday.
