Star Miami defensive end Jason Taylor has been miffed of late. He’s been unhappy with new Dolphins executive Bill Parcells, general manager Jeff Ireland and head coach Tony Sparano. Could it be that Taylor is tired of playing on a losing club?
Last season, the dismal Fins went 1-15. Taylor has indicated that, due to mistreatment by Parcells and Ireland, he’s sitting out training camp. That includes voluntary and required sessions.
Last week, the Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano met with the disgruntled Taylor, who recently appeared on the network television show Dancing with the Stars. In the meeting with Sparano, it appears that Taylor, who came in second in the competition, was not the one dancing.
Sparano took the meeting in an attempt to bring Taylor back into the fold. The head coach noted, “I wanted to make it clear to Jason that we as an organization want him back here, and that I was anxious to see him running around here with his teammates.” He then noted that he felt that the defensive end had a good idea of where he and the team stood.
Taylor has been with the team for every one of his 11 NFL seasons. He was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2006. The DE has noted that he wants to play for one more year and that he is still interested in Miami.
