Former NFL coach Dan Reeves, who was let go the other day after lasting just 48 hours as a consultant with the Dallas Cowboys, stirred up some waves today. Some air waves that is.
Reeves, who has coached in four Super Bowls, said in an interview that aired on BaD radio in Dallas, that in relationship to Owens and the turmoil he’s created that “From an outsider, I certainly have an opinion. I think the more distractions that you can eliminate and get the team focused on the team and not themselves, then you’ve got a better chance.”
He also noted that everyone in the Dallas organization had an opinion about Owens and that many were mixed.
In an earlier interview on KTBB, Reeves noted, “I don’t think you ever talk to the Cowboys without Terrell Owens coming up. I can say there are definitely some mixed feelings about T.O. Most everybody you talk to has a different opinion of him. They definitely have a decision to make as far as to what they will do about T.O., and I really don’t know what that will be.”
If Dallas does jettison Owens, who complained hotly about the lack of balls that were thrown to him this season and argued with teammates, they could pick up veteran Ray Lewis. In an interview with the NFL Network this week, Lewis said that he thought playing with Dallas would be “a great opportunity.” He added, “It’s always been America’s Team. It’s just a great place to play football.”
