Baltimore Vs. Pittsburgh
For the Ravens to Win:
QB Joe Flacco is on the cusp of losing. He’s one big mistake away but has not made it yet. He can’t make that mistake against Pittsburgh or his team is dead. He’s connecting on 50% of his throws. How can this be a Super Bowl team?
The running tandem of Le’Ron McClain and Willis McGahee has to run for at least 125 yards. If they don’t, this team will not score.
The Baltimore Ravens’ defense must force two turnovers that result in scores.
Baltimore is playing away, in cold temperatures and they are six-point underdogs. Do they have a chance? Yes—a slight one. But everything has to go their way.
For the Steelers to Win:
Willie Parker has to run for at least 100 yards and score once. If he can wear down the Raven “D” that will help open the field for Ben Roethlisberger and the passing game.
Roethlisberger needs to stay away from the sack and connect with wideout Hines Ward. He should be able to do both. He’s a smart veteran.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense needs to stop the Baltimore running game and pressure Flacco.
Steelers have a home field and cold weather advantage. They are favored by six. Placekicker Jeff Reed knows how to kick in the swirling winds of Heinze Field.
Final Prediction
The Steelers have a cagey veteran quarterback and a fine attack. They are at home where the cold winds of Heinze Field will blow. They can exploit that advantage. The Steelers will make Joe Flacco’s day very long and will beat the spread. Steelers take this one 24- 14.
