Romeo Crennel and Browns’ Marriage no Love Affair

Sources say that unless head coach Romeo Crennel can inspire his team to a miracle finish this season, he’s out.

Sources say that unless head coach Romeo Crennel can inspire his team to a miracle finish this season, he’s out. romeo crennel Complicating Crennel’s situation is the fact that he’s seen two quarterbacks get knocked out of the lineup in successive weeks. The Cleveland Browns have lost QB Brady Quinn for the rest of the season to injury. To complicate things, it looks like they’ve also lost QB Derek Anderson to a left MCL injury.

Crennel has been the coach of the Browns for five years. He’s managed to guide them to one winning season. The Browns have not made the playoffs under Crennel. Cleveland is at 4-8 and at best can finish 8-8 this season.

Cleveland lost it’s first three games of the season. The highlight of the year thus far has been the Browns’ 35-14 win over the New York Giants. That put them at 2-3. Thus far that has been the Super Bowl champ’s only loss of the 2008-2009 season.

Possible replacements for Crennel could include former head coaches Bill Cowher or Marty Scottenheimer or coordinators such as the Jets’ Brian Schottenheimer, the Giants’ Steve Spagnuolo or the Titans’ Jim Schwartz.
