Anderson Out and Quinn in at Cleveland

Coach Romeo Crennel has made his decision and it’s not an easy one for some to take. Starting quarterback Derek Anderson has been removed from the top spot. brady quinn Replacing him is former number two guy—Brady Quinn.

The announcement of the change was made on Tuesday. Crennel noted that he benched the former Pro Bowl quarterback because of his inconsistent play which he sees as partly to blame for the Cleveland Browns disappointing 3- 5 record and the low rating of the team’s offense.

Apparently, the decision to replace Anderson with Quinn is not a knee jerk one as the Browns’ head coach said that he had been mulling the move over “for a while now.” He said, “I felt like we needed a different dynamic on the offense.”

The change in starters was instituted a few days after Anderson tossed an interception late in the fourth quarter of the Browns’ game versus the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns lost 37- 27. Crennel maintains that his decision was his alone and was not influenced by fan reactions or ownership.

In 2007, Quinn, a former star QB for Notre Dame, played in one game, attempting eight passes and completing three. He’s thrown no interceptions and no touchdowns. That is the extent of his play in the NFL. This marks his second NFL season.

Anderson has been in the NFL and with the Browns for three seasons. In 2007, he plated in all 16 regular-season games, throwing 29 TDs and 19 INTs. This season, his completion rate is just 49.8% and he’s tossed nine TDs and 7 INTs.
