The Dallas Cowboys of 2007 were 13-3 and looked primed to go to the Super Bowl. But it all fell apart in the playoffs, and they were out in the first round.
In the off-season, they signed some of their top players to long-term deals. They want another Lombardi Trophy.
Offense
As a first time starter, QB Tony Romo was successful. He tossed 36 scores and passed for 4,211 yards. Wide receiver Terrell Owens and tight end Jason Witten, two of the best in the league, caught 15 and seven touchdowns respectively. At running back, Marion Barber, who accumulated 975 yards and 10 scores, was a true competitor. With Felix Jones being drafted, the Cowboy ground game added depth. The O-line will protect Romo and open up holes for the rushing attack.
Defense
The Dallas defense was third in the league in sacks, notching 46. The linebacking squad is excellent. Bradie James had 101 tackles—most on the club. Linebackers Demarcus Ware (14 sacks) and Greg Ellis (12.5 sacks) hunted quarterbacks aggressively. The secondary is also nothing to sneeze at. Corner Anthony Henry (6 INT) and safety Ken Hamlin (5 INT) offer first-rate coverage. By adding Corner Adam (formerly Pacman) Jones, this unit is awesome. The frontline is also solid.
Special Teams
Jones and Jones make the return squad potent. That is rookie Felix Jones and veteran Adam Jones. Both are speedy and elusive runners. Nick Folk starts his second season at placekicker after performing well under pressure in his rookie year. Punter Mat McBriar offers an accurate and strong leg.
Overview
Cowboys’ coaching is aggressive on both sides of the ball. Head coach Wade Phillips is a solid football man. The 2008 Dallas Cowboys will put points on the board while stopping opponents from doing the same.
