Carry the bat

An opening batsman is referred to have carried the bat when he/she is the only player to remain not out as the batting innings come to an end. As opposed to a not out status which occurs when the batsman remains not dismissed as the team declares its innings or wins the game or the match is drawn, a batsman is said to have carried the bat only when the rest of the 10 players who come to bat get out.
