What is a Belter in Cricket?
In cricket, belter is terminology ascribed to a pitch that offers the batsman an advantage. In contrast, said pitch does not offer the bowler any assistance. Belter is the word used to describe a pitch that is favorable to the batsman and allows the team to garner huge scores.
The Cricket pitch - Where Most of the Action Happens
The cricket pitch is the grass-covered central strip with the following dimensions: 66.01 feet (20.12 metres) long and 10 feet (3.05 metres) wide. High-level cricket may also be played on a clay surface. The pitch is flat and located between the wickets. Towards the end of the pitch, the grass may be worn out. Another name for the cricket pitch is the "track".
The Bowler and the Batsman on the Pitch
The bowler of one team delivers the ball from one end of the pitch. At the other end, the opposing team's batsman tries to hit the ball. There are different types of pitch and it can be made from natural or artificial materials. Whether a pitch is a belter is determined by the players who pit their skill against their opponents. Ground staff must make sure the pitch is in optimal condition especially in matches that last for days.
