A Timed Match is a play that has to be stopped once it reaches the set amount of time. Regardless of the score, a timed match should decide the outcome of the match whether they are a draw, win, loss, or a tie. Contrary to the timeless match, in which teams can continue playing until one of them can reach the set score.
The Advantages of Using Timed Match
Many spectators might be bored of watching timeless matches because it’s lengthy, that it takes many days for it to finish. After all, they have to complete the allotted innings and overs. Matched time can take about three to five days only. The time would have intervals between innings, breaks, and drinks. Of course, there are special exceptions in between intervals. For instance, the interval between innings would last about 10 minutes, while in between breaks would be about 30 minutes.
How to Decide for the Timed Match
Both teams and the umpires have to agree with the intervals when a timed-match is being played. For example, if ten wickets are already down and the agreed duration for the interval is reached, then break time would have to be delayed in a maximum of 30 minutes. Regardless of the number of scores, whether it was reached or not.
Why Timed Match is More Appropriate?
Almost every game has time to follow, such as basketball. When certain time is followed, it means to longer the patience and discipline between players. With a timed match, more matches from different teams are being followed with the same thrill and excitement coming from the spectators.
The World’s Longest Cricket Match
It was in 1939 when England decided to play a test match for more than five days. The longest timeless test was recorded between South Africa and England which started on March 3 and ended on March 14, yet it was decided to draw because England has to leave South Africa on the 14th. The record of England’s 654 runs is the highest runs and no team has ever beaten the record since then.
