Club refers to a group of cricketers that form one or more teams. These teams often compete with other teams, either locally or internationally. The creation of the club is for recreational level and amateur cricket matches. With the growing popularity of the sport, the number of clubs has also increased. The main countries that form a club are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia England, New Zealand, Scotland form Lanka, Ireland, West Indies, South Africa, Netherlands, and Wales. The countries the United States and Canada just recently formed a club mostly composed of immigrants coming from cricket-playing countries.
Format of a Club
The most common format of a club is the Saturday league cricket. This format often covers a team of the lower divisions to the highest leagues. The teams are composed of occasional players, ex-professional players, and professional players. Another type of format is the friendly ticket that is held on a Sunday. This format often follows the traditional type of play where the time is limited or the number of overs is between 80 and 120 only. If the format is less formal, evening cricket is preferable. This game often introduces new players to the club. This type of club puts emphasis on inclusivity with a limited number of overs per bowler and limited runs per batsman.
Composition of a Club
Clubs often have amateur players, but to ensure that their players are properly trained, professional coaches are hired to carry out such tasks. Individuals that are hired in a club have played in first-class matches or the test cricket. Others are injured players that would use the privilege of the club as a match practice.
Officiating Officials of a Club
During a match between amateur club teams, umpires are hired to officiate the match and preside over the game. Scorers are also hired to keep score. The club will cover the cost of the officials’ transportation allowance as well as their receiving fee. It is expected that these officiating officials remain impartial, especially if they attend a home game.
