The batman is said to be dismissed when he gets out. The dismissal can occur when the batsman is bowled, caught, stumped or run out. Other cases of dismissal also include the batsman getting caught leg before wicket, handling the ball, hitting the ball twice, hit wicket, obstructing the field or even when the batsman retires hurt. A batsman who is dismissed cannot continue to bat and is required to leave the field.
