Stephen Moore
Born on 11 November 1980 in Johannesburg in South Africa, Stephen Colin Moore is a professional English cricketer. Currently he plays for Lancashire County Cricket Club. He has also played Worcestershire from 2003 to 2009. A solid right-handed opening batsman, Moore is also an occasional right-arm medium pace bowler. Stephen Moore was educated in South Africa and is an efficient saxophonist.
Stephen Moore is a technical batsman who is predominantly a front foot player. Always confident of his drives through covers and efficiency of finding the gaps regularly makes him a better batsman than others in this circuit.
Moore made his first-class debut in 2003. He became the first player to score 1000 runs for the 2008 season, including a wonderful innings of 139 runs against Gloucestershire. He finished as the leading run scorer of the season with 1451 runs. At the end of 2009 season, he left the Worcestershire county club, citing a clause mentioned in his contract that permitted him to leave after the club's demotion from the first division of the County Championship. He was signed by Lancashire on a two-year contract.
However, his season prematurely ended following an injury he got while fielding in a Twenty20 quarter-final match. He required a surgery on the shoulder.
