Gary John Gilmore is a former professional cricketer who played test matches and one day international matches for Australia. He was a left-handed batsman and a left armed fast-medium bowler. Gilmore played 15 test matches and 5 one day international matches all throughout his career.

At the start of his career, Gilmore earned his place at par with the fellow Australian Alan Davison. Before playing for Australia, Gilmore played domestic cricket for New South Wales. He scored 122 runs in his debut match with the New South Wales which got aptly noticed by the Australian selectors. He made his debut with a test match against New Zealand in 1973 and his one day international debut in 1974.

Throughout his career, Gilmore played a total of 15 tests and scored 483 runs from it at an average of 23. He also played 5 one day international matches at a batting average of 42. His bowling averages for the same remain at 26.03 and 10.31 respectively. Gilmore’s best bowling figures for teat matches is 6 wickets for 85 runs.

Later in his career, Gilmore’s skills as a bowler started to fade away on account of a foot injury. A neglected attitude towards fitness and training and a misdiagnosed injury led to an end to his professional career after mid-1950s.
