Mudassar Nazar
Mudassar Nazar was the opening batsman of Pakistan which was a role his father Nazar Mohammad also performed. However, in Pakistan’s inaugural Test series in 1952-53, Nazar suffered an unfortunate accident. Mudassar, as a cricketer and a personality, was understated and quick. Although, he was less gifted than his partner Mohsin Khan, Mudassar always strived to make the best of what he had.
Mudassar played nicely on low and slow pitches. In 1977-78, his innings against England in Lahore was so slow that it would fail to entice a crowd of 50,000 in the recent scenario. He worked upon and developed his medium pace as a league pro in England.
When Mudassar retired, he continued to work as a coach. In 2005, he was a director of the Nairobi Cricket Academy. Further, he became a director of the Pakistan National Cricket Academy. He was offered a position in the ICC’s Global Cricket Academy in Dubai.
