Wilkin Mota is basically a right arm medium pace bowler who can also be used as a useful right handed batsman in the lower order.
In the 2004-05 Ranji season, during the 7th round, Mota scored an unbeaten 55 and claimed 3 wickets for Mumbai against Delhi. During the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy semi-final match between Mumbai and Baroda, Mumbai team was struggling at 0 for 5. Mota contributed 33 runs and this enabled Mumbai to reach a respectable total. He was equally imposing with the ball and picked 6 wickets while conceding 51 runs. In this way, he played a pivotal role in Mumbai’s victory over Baroda.
Mota played his first Twenty20 match against Gujarat for Mumbai in April 2007. Prior to the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008, he was chosen by Kings XI Punjab. On 31st May 2008, he participated in the IPL match against Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai. In this match, he faced 26 balls and with the aid of 2 fours collected 25 runs. While fielding, he took 1 catch. This match was won by Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets with 31 balls to spare.
