Debbie Hockley
Debbie Hockley is a Right handed batsman and a Right arm medium pace bowler with the New Zealand national women’s cricket team. She has also played for the Canterbury 'A' Women, North Shore Women and the Canterbury Women’s teams.
Debbie Hockley made her debut in International cricket in a Test match against the Australia Women’s team at Melbourne in 1979. In the first innings, Hockley scored 14 runs and was run out. In the second innings, she scored 5 runs and remained not out at the stumps as the match ended in a draw. In 1982, Hockley played her debut One day International match against the England Women’s team at Auckland in 1982. Hockley came into bat at the fifth position and scored 44 runs before getting caught by Janette Brittin on a ball by Janet Tedstone. The match ended in a dramatic tie with a run out on the last ball. Debbie was the first women’s cricketer to cross 100 One day Internationals. She has played in 1982, 1988, 1993, 1997 and the 2000 Women’s World Cups. In 2000, she played her last One day International match against the Australian eves at Lincoln.
