Cuthbert Gordon Greenidge popularly known as Gordon Greenidge was the opening batsman of the West Indies cricket team. He was a right handed batsman and a right arm leg break bowler. He formed a formidable partnership with Desmond Haynes for several years.
The most remarkable phase of the career of Greenidge was during the 1984 Test series against England in England. In the second Test which was played at Lords on the last day Greenidge piled up 214 runs as his team successfully chased 342 runs and won the Test. In the fourth Test that was played at Old Trafford Greenidge accumulated 223 runs. Due to these two double century performances the name of Greenidge is etched in Test history.
In Test matches Greenidge has a top score of 226 and has taken 96 catches. Similarly, in One day International matches, his highest score is an unbeaten 133 while taking 45 catches.

In 1997 Greenidge was appointed as the coach for Bangladesh National cricket team. Due to his training the team won the ICC trophy in 1997 and in 1999 got the opportunity to participate in the first world cup finals. Due to his contribution Greenidge was offered the honorary citizenship of Bangladesh. It was under his guidance that the team performed nicely during the 1999 Cricket World Cup and was finally offered the status of a Test playing country.

Greenidge played in 108 Test matches in which he scored 7558 runs which included 19 centuries and 34 half centuries at an average of 44.72.
He played 128 One day Internationals during which he accumulated 5134 runs at an average of 45.03 and these consisted of 11 centuries and 31 half centuries.
