Michael Vandort is a left handed batsman and a right arm medium bowler with the Sril Lankan cricket team. He has also played cricket for the Colombo Cricket Club, Ragama Cricket Club and Wayamba cricket team.
Michael Vandort has been playing first class cricket since 1998. He made his debut in International cricket in a test match against Bangladesh at Colombo in 2001. Vandort scored 36 runs off 65 balls which included 4 boundaries before getting caught by Manjural Islam off a ball by Naimur Rahman in the first innings. Sri Lanka went on to win the match by an innings and 137 runs.
In 2006, Vandort played his first and only One day International match till now against Australia at Melbourne when he replaced Murliatharan in the first over. He scored 48 runs off 117 balls and was run out 2 runs short to what could have been his first International half century. Australia won the match by 116 runs.
In a total of 19 test matches, Vandort has scored 1094 runs with a high score of 140 runs and a strike rate of 48.21. This also includes 4 centuries and 4 half centuries.
