Khaled Mahmud was a right arm medium bowler and a right handed batsman with the Bangladesh cricket team. He has also played for the Dhaka Division and the Dhaka Metropolis cricket teams.
Khaled started playing first class cricket from 1998. He made his debut in International cricket in a One day International match against India at his hometown Dhaka in 1998. He scored 47 runs in 80 balls which also included 5 boundaries and was run out 3 runs short to his maiden half century. Mahmud could not claim a single wicket in the 9 overs, though he gave away 38 runs. India went on to win the match by 4 wickets.
In 2001, Mahmud made his debut in test cricket in a match against Zimbabwe once again at his hometown Dhaka. After getting caught at 6 runs after facing 15 balls in the first innings, Mahmud bowled 15 overs and gave away 59 runs, however not claiming any wickets in the match which ended in a draw. After being a member of the 1999 and 2003 World Cup Bangladeshi team, he captained the Bangladesh team from 2003 to 2004. In 2006, Mahmud announced his retirement from international cricket.
In a total of 77 One day Internationals’, Mahmud has scored 991 runs at a strike rate of 67.83 and has claimed 67 wickets at an economy of 5.07 runs per over. He also has a total of 266 runs and has claimed 13 wickets at an economy of 3.08 runs per over in the 12 test matches that he has played.
