Manjural Islam Rana was a left arm slow orthodox spinner and a left handed batsman with the Bangladesh cricket team. He also played with the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Development Squad and the Khulna division.
Rana started playing first class cricket in 2001. He made his debut in One day International cricket in 2003 against England in Chittagong. Rana bowled 8 overs and claimed the wicket of MP Vaughan in the very first over of his International career and became the first Bangladeshi to do so. He also managed to score 18 runs before being run out. Bangladesh however lost the match to England. He also made his test debut in 2004 against Zimbabwe in Harare. Though he did not claim any wickets in the first innings, he maintained an economy of just 2 runs per over after 13 overs. In the second innings, Rana claimed 2 wickets sacrificing his economy which was 5.45 per over in the 7.2 overs that he bowled. However, Bangladesh was defeated by Zimbabwe.

In 2005, Rana recorded his career best of 4 wickets for 34 runs against Zimbabwe, in the same series he was named as the Man of the Match twice. In 2007, during the World Cup, Rana and fellow cricketer Sajjadul Hasan were killed in a road accident in Khulna. He was the youngest cricketer to die at the age of 22.
In a total of 25 One day International that he played, Rana has 23 wickets to his name with an economy of 4.15 per over.
