Jean- Paul Duminy is a left handed top order batsman and a right arm offbreak batsman with the South African cricket team. He also plays for the Devon, Cape Cobras and Western Province clubs. Presently, he has been retained by the Deccan Chargers team to play at the IPL 5 season 2012. In 2011 IPL season, he was with this team.
Jean- Paul made his debut in first class cricket in 2001 in a match against Bangladesh- A team at Worcester where he was run out after scoring 166 runs in 234 balls in the first innings. In the second innings he could only score 1 run before he was bowled leg before wicket.
In 2003, Duminy was a part of the under 19 South African tea which toured England, where he scored a magnificent 116 runs. In 2004 when South Africa toured Sri Lanka, Duminy made his International debut in a ODI match against Sri Lanka. He was once again sent back at 4 runs after a leg before appeal by Vass. In 2006, Duminy was back in the South African team in a home series against Zimbabwe. In the 2007 Twenty20 World Championships Duminy was part of the South African cricket squad. Duminy has yet to play International test cricket.
In a total of 89 One Day International matches he has played, Duminy has scored 2536 runs with a high score of 129 runs.
