Jacob David Philip Oram is a professional New Zealand cricketer who plays for the New Zealand national cricket team. He is not only a left handed and big hitting batsman but also a right arm fast-medium bowler. Due to his capability with the bat as well as the ball he has a permanent place in the current New Zealand one day and Test sides. He usually bats at the sixth or seventh position for New Zealand. In the Hawke Cup he has also played for Manawatu.

He scored 97 runs and narrowly missed his first Test century against Pakistan in 2003-04. In the next Test match he scored 119 not out against South Africa and this was followed by 90 runs in the next Test. At Brisbane he scored his second Test century with a score of 126 not out against Australia which comprised of Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne. His third test century was against South Africa during which he scored a career high of 133.

In One day Internationals Oram scored 101 not out off 72 deliveries against Australia in Perth on 28th January 2007. When this score was made it was the fastest ever hundred by any New Zealander and also the fastest ever against Australia. Oram was involved in a 137 run partnership with Brendon McCullum which is the highest ever for the 6th wicket for New Zealand.

In the year 2008 Oram was also a part of the Indian Premier League in which he represented the Chennai Super Kings.
