Rusty Theron

Juan Rusty Theron is a South African Professional Cricketer. He was born on 24th July 1985 in Vereeniging. He has played for the Chevrolet Warriors (Eastern Province), South Africa A and the Kings XI Punjab. Rusty is a right handed batsman and a right handed medium-fast bowler. He has been retained by the team of Deccan Chargers to play at the IPL 5 season 2012.

Rusty Theron played his debut match for Eastern Province in a List A match in October 2005. In that match he picked up 2 wickets for 26 runs in 6.3 overs. His first-class debut came against KwaZulu Natal side in November 2005. These performances helped Rusty to win a place in the Warriors side.

In 2008, Rusty won the award of MTN Domestic Championship Cricketer of the Year playing for the Warriors. In the same year he was selected for the South Africa A side.

Theron has good experience of the Twenty20 format as he has also represented the South African Team in two Twenty20 matches against Pakistan. Kings XI Punjab had bought him in the previous seasons of the IPL. Currently, Deccan Chargers even selected him to play the IPL 2011. Rusty’s demand in the IPL stays more due to his ability to concede fewer amounts of runs in the last overs of the innings. He is good in mixing up the pace of the deliveries and also bowls them in good spots.
