Such is the nature of T20 cricket that a match can turn in the space of just a few deliveries, yet alone a few overs.

Such is the nature of T20 cricket that a match can turn in the space of just a few deliveries, yet alone a few overs.

So when the Chennai Super Kings come face to face with the Dolphins on Monday in their next Group A fixture in the 2014 CLT20, both teams will be faced with the knowledge that defeat will almost certainly see them eliminated from the tournament with still two qualifying games to go.

Yet, it could so easily have been two sides facing each other, who had won their opening games, and were vying for the victory that would put them on the brink of a semi-final spot.

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore should make for an interesting venue on Monday for this match, with so much at stake so early in the competition, and in particular with one of the most powerful of all the Indian Franchises playing for the tournament future.

The Dolphins faced the Perth Scorchers from Australia on Saturday in what the first outing for both sides in the competition. Although the contest was fairly insipid in all truthfulness, the climax was of comic book hero stuff.

Back on February 7th, Mitchell Marsh had taken the final of the Big Bash League by the scruff of the neck, and smashed 37 off just 12 deliveries, to take his side to a final total of 191 for 4. They eventually won the match by 39 runs.

Just two days later in South Africa, Robble Frylinck bowled the last over in the final of the Ram Slam T20, and successful defended 14 runs, to secure his team the title.

The two match winners faced each other in the final over of Saturday’s CLT20 match. Frylinck, attacked the blockhole with great accuracy and conceded just four runs from the first four balls.

However, March kept his head and smote two sixes from the final two balls to win the match, and send his team mates delirious with joy, while leaving the Dolphins wondering how the match had slipped from their grasp.
