The city of Melbourne prepares itself for the second match in two days as this time Melbourne Renegades will be in action.
The match to be played on Saturday is against Brisbane Heat with the growing gaps between the sides becoming evident of the results this season.
Melbourne Renegades are the team to beat this season. With three wins from as many matches, they are the only undefeated side thus far and are sitting top of the table.
Brisbane Heat, in comparison, are struggling to get their campaign truly on track as they have alternated between wins and defeats to end up with two points from three matches.
Renegades powered to a crushing seven-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes on Wednesday with West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels announcing his arrival on the league in grand style.
With his off-spin darts, he picked up three wickets before whizzing to 21 off nine balls with the bat.
His emergence over the last couple of yars makes him a resounding threat to the opposing players. Nathan Rimmington and Muttiah Muralitharan were also amongst the wickets while captain Aaron Finch has top scored for the team in all the three matches.
Brisbane lost their fixture to Perth Scorchers by virtue of the Duckworth-Lewis rule in a match that was heavily affected by rain. With
a full match guaranteed under the covered roof, Brisbane can choose to focus on the areas they can control. Chris Lynn’s half-century and Dan Christian’s big-hitting ability give the team options in the middle order in addition to James Hopes and Luke Pomersbach’s presence up the order.
With the ball, there are two overseas recruits with a potential to make a difference. Kemar Roach and Thisara Perera will look to show the way to their younger teammates.
The match will start at 7.00pm local time.
