A rivalry that has served plenty of memorable matches is set to be renewed with Australia taking on South Africa in the Super Eights fixture on Sunday.
The match will be played in Colombo with Australia having an eye on the semi-final spot while South Africa keen to avoid yet another early exit.
South Africa go into the match under a lot of pressure after suffering a shock defeat at the hands of Pakistan on Friday.
Despite a struggling batting effort, the bowlers got on top to restrict the Pakistan batsmen to 73 for 7.
The story had another twist though with Umar Gul snatching the game away. Captain AB de Villiers said that his captaincy had a few flaws specially in the last few overs and will look to address those concerns in the coming matches.
The Proteas also have other problems of their own with Richard Levi not firing at the top of the order.
His place could potentially be taken up by Faf du Plessis who was dropped from the last match.
Dale Steyn is likely to be fit for the match despite taking a meaty blow on his ankle in the final over of the match.
Australia are making their case stronger and stronger for their first World T20 title with every passing match.
They started their Super Eights in style with a commanding win over India as Shane Watson and David Warner blazed their way to the total.
Watson has now completed a hat-trick of Man of the Match awards and the opponents would obviously be wary of him.
Captain George Bailey would relish the opportunity to notch up another win to ease their chances of making it through to the semi-finals with a game in hand.
The match starts at 3.30 pm local time.
