The Match:
This will be the 53rd game of the Indian Premier League and will see the Deccan Chargers take on the Pune Warriors India. The two sides have not had the best of the times in the tournament so far and will look at trying to outdo each other in a battle for the wooden spoon. >
How the two teams match up:
Interestingly, both the sides have won only three games in the tournament so far, having played ten each. The Chargers could have had their fourth win but Virender Sehwag played an innings to remember as he slammed a century to take the previous game away from the Chargers from being precariously poised. On the other hand, Pune go into the game after having broken a spell of seven successive losses and will now look to ensure that they can get another win under their belt. >
Ground Conditions: The game will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad, a ground which has been woeful when it comes to results for the home side. Deccan Chargers have won only one game here in the two seasons of IPL played and it could well be an advantage for the opposition.
The Teams: The Deccan Chargers decided to drop the Australian middle-order batsman, Cameron White from the line-up and got in JP Duminy instead. This was a good move considering that White has been so woefully out of form that he was earlier dropped from his national side as well. Duminy played marvellous, and strokeful innings of a half century and led his side to what many thought was a match-winning score.
The Chargers had also got in an extra seam bowler, Ishan Malhotra in place of Manpreet Gony, but the way he was hit, it will be very difficult for him to come back into the side.
The Pune Warriors have surprised many of their fans by getting in Sourav Ganguly into the squad but not selecting him in two successive games. Now, with a game won by the side, it is difficult to see how the side will want to change the winning combination and get Ganguly in.
They will need to maintain the same batting order, with Uthappa at the number three position and Yuvraj at four.
Players to look out for: Pune need Jesse Ryder to fire, if he gets selected again, that is. On the other hand, the Chargers will look at their captain to continue giving them the starts required.
Prediction: Pune will be favourites to win this one.
