The Match: The Chennai Super Kings will take on the Rajasthan Royals in the 43rd game of the Indian Premier League and the game will be played at the Chepauk in Chennai. This is a game between two top sides in the competition and will have them looking to garner the top spot by winning the game.
How the two teams match up:
Rajasthan are on a three-match winning streak, having beaten the Kochi, Mumbai and Pune sides. They have 11 points from their nine games and will be gunning for a win that will take hem to 13 and at the top of the points table. On the other hand, the Super Kings have also won five from their eight games and are on 10 points. Much like the Royals, a win for the Super Kings will take them to the top of the table, tied for the points with the Mumbai Indians. >
Ground Conditions: The game, played at the Chepauk, may not go on to become a high-scoring one but it could end up being a thriller given the kind of teams involved in the competition. It will be on the slower side and the team winning the toss will look to bat first.
The Teams: It is difficult to see either side making any changes to the line-up. The Super Kings had won their previous two games, including the last game against the Chargers, when it looked like the Deccan side had the right kind of start chasing a mediocre score.
Albie Morkel’s comeback to form will help the team, as will the bowling of Doug Bollinger, who has been miserly with his bowling. Where the Super Kings will look to change things around will be with their starts – they have been a tad slow to begin with, which has put the pressure on the middle-order.
The Royals may also go in with a same line-up, although, there will be questions asked around the inclusion of someone like a Stuart Binny, who hasn’t done anything with the bat or the ball. Expect a barrage of slow bowlers taking on the role of opening the bowling with Johan Botha leading from the front.
Players to look out for: Rajasthan will depend on how their slow bowlers bowl and it will be interesting to see how Shane Warne goes about his business. On the other hand, Super Kings need Murali Vijay to get them off to a big one.
Prediction: Probably a tie will be a good result!
