The Match:
In this 22nd game of the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The game will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. >
How the two teams match up:
Both the sides, in their own ways, have changed things around remarkably. The Knight Riders went into the IPL with three poor seasons in the tournament and went on to lose the first game of the tournament to Chennai Super Kings. However, after that they have managed to beat the Deccan Chargers and the Rajasthan Royals (twice), to go to the top of the points table.>
On the other hand, the Kochi Tuskers, playing in the first IPL ever lost their opening couple of games. It must be said that the losses were close and it was only a matter of time before they made a comeback through the wins over Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
Ground Conditions: It will be played at the Eden Gardens, where the Knight Riders last played and beat the Rajasthan Royals. It was so humid and muggy that the bowlers were having difficulty in holding the ball properly and had to call out the towels – one of the first times when dew has not necessitated this.
The Teams: The Kolkata Knight Riders will go in unchanged given that they have now won three games in a row. Brett Lee continues to add the firepower to the side while Shakib’s all-round skills assist the team as well. Yusuf Pathan hasn’t had too many chances to go after the bowling and it will be interesting to see how he goes.
The Kochi Tuskers need the likes of Mahela Jayawardene and Brad Hodge to support the man who is really in form for the Tuskers; Brendon McCullum. McCullum has had three superb knocks in the four matches played and has been the man of the match on two occasions in a row.
The Kochi bowling is a bit of a concern and they may get in Muthiah Muralitharan for this game.
Players to look out for: The Kolkata Knight Riders will look to their captain Gautam Gambhir to provide them with the start that he has been doing at the number three position. He has had two, unbeaten, match-winning innings in the tournament and will look to make it three in a row. The Kochi Tuskers will look to Mahela Jayawardene to get going.
Prediction: Kolkata will be favourites to win this one.
